Call for Engagement

Dear Elders, Colleagues & Community Leaders,

I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of the Native Women’s Association of the NWT, I would like to extend a heartfelt invitation to your organization to join a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being and safety of Indigenous women across the Northwest Territories.

We are excited to announce our inaugural two-day Summit, Community Voices of the NWT, scheduled for October 3 and 4, 2024. This event is designed to foster a collaborative environment where community leaders and non-profits, primarily serving Indigenous communities, will come together to share insights and propose solutions for the challenges faced by the people we serve.

Westbridge Ventures Canada LP has graciously partnered with us in this endeavor, serving as a consultant to help orchestrate our efforts and ensure that we maximize our collective impact. Their expertise in strategic planning and project coordination will be invaluable as we navigate through the complexities of our objectives.

Event Overview: The Summit will feature moderated panels where representatives from various communities and organizations will discuss priority issues affecting their regions. Each day will consist of four to five panels, followed by Q&A sessions to encourage audience interaction. Additionally, there will be informational booths set up in a trade show format to facilitate networking and information sharing.

Call for Engagement: We kindly request your organization’s participation not only in attending but also in engaging actively in these discussions and consultations leading up to the summit. Your unique perspectives and experiences are crucial for the success of this summit. In the near future, we will call on you for information regarding the specific challenges and opportunities facing your community, which will help us tailor the discussions and outcomes of the event.

Project Outcomes: Our goal is to create a comprehensive report from the summit’s findings, which will be submitted to the federal government and shared among all participants. This report will aid in future programming and funding efforts, helping us to better coordinate services and support for Indigenous populations. In addition to the report, we want to create an in-depth summary of non-profits across the NWT and the services they provide.

Save the Date: Please mark your calendars for October 3 and 4, 2024, and prepare to join us at this significant event being held at the Chateau Nova in Yellowknife, NT. We believe that your contribution to this Summit can lead to tangible improvements in the lives of many.

Thank you for considering this invitation. We look forward to your active participation in shaping a better future for Indigenous women and their communities across the Northwest Territories.

Thank you, Masì cho
